I don’t know about you, but as the temperature drops and the days get shorter, I begin to think about warm baths, days in, and ways to slow down and show myself some love!

I practice self-care by taking the time to play with fun DIY that I can later use myself. (That’s DOUBLE self-love if you ask me!)

Unfortunately, a lot of methods of self-care can cause harm, such as harmful chemicals in store bought bath and beauty products.

This is why DIY is the way to go! Know every ingredient, get more bang for your buck, and have fun making things EXACTLY how you want them!

I also think it is very important for you to pamper yourself. I don't know what I would do without my massages. I want you to take a moment and pick up the phone and make yourself an appointment for a massage or whatever you love to do to pamper yourself, a pedicure or whatever you like. You deserve it!

Here are some DIY Recipes to Enjoy and Pamper yourself.

Bath salts are incredible way to moisturize, exfoliate, supplement magnesium, AND relax. These fizzy Peppermint bath salts also give the added bonus of a fun fizzle, similar to popular bath bombs!

Instructions:
In a dry bowl, combine the salts, essential oil, and food coloring until thoroughly combined. Then add baking soda and citric acid until completely mixed together. Divide into airtight containers into however many servings you would like (I usually do 3-4).

*Be sure to store these in a DRY environment or the fizziness will deactivate.

To Use:
Pour desired amount into a warm bath and RELAX!

(Note that you can prepare these like bath bombs if you have molds. If you do not care for the fizzle, omit the citric acid and just simply mix everything together!)

Dry skin is a common complaint as the air gets cold and dry and our skin doesn’t know quite how to acclimate without ample moisturization. No fear, I’ve got a solution for you: lotion bars! They are easy to make, smell wonderful, and are GREAT for your skin.

I also recommend Wintergreen, Peppermint, Lavender, and Wild Orange!

Instructions:
-Melt coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax in double boiler
(*Tip: if you do not have a double boiler, you can place a large mason jar filled with the ingredients in a pot of shallow hot water, but BE CAREFUL)
-Stir constantly until mixture is fully melted and incorporated
-Remove from heat and add essential oils
-Pour mixture in desired container. Candy or ice trays or empty deodorant tubes work great!

Be sure to store these in a COOL environment (like the fridge) or they may melt.

To Use:
-If chilled, heat up lotion bar by rubbing it in between your hands to make application easier
-Rub desired amount in desired areas (or all over!)

These also make great gifts!

Chapped Lips are a thing of the past with this holiday lip balm! I’m sorry, but you are lying if you say you NEVER suffer from chapped lips. Okay, maybe you aren’t lying, but you are LUCKY. Try this yummy Cinnamon Orange Lip Balm to keep your lips smooth all winter long!

Instructions:
-Melt coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax in double boiler
-Keep mixture on heat and stir until it is fully melted
-Add essential oils
-Pour mixture into small jars, lip balm tubes, or any other desired container

To Use:
Apply directly onto your lips or with your finger.

A good salve can be the base to many amazing recipes. Similar to the texture of petroleum jelly, you can customize this salve with essential oils to meet your needs.

Ingredients:
-1/2 cup grapeseed oil
-1/2 cup almond oil
-2 tablespoons beeswax
-1/2 tablespoon vitamin E oil
-5 drops each of Lavender, Cypress, Melaleuca, Frankincense, and Eucalyptus essential oils
Directions:
-Melt beeswax in double boiler
-Once melted, add grapeseed, almond, and vitamin E oil until melted.
-Let cool for 2-3 minutes.
-Add essential oils and stir.
-Pour in container of choice and allow to set for 2 hours.

To Use:
-Apply to skin.
(I recommend the chest, bottom of the feet, or the base of the neck. I also prefer Coconut oil and Olive oil instead of grapeseed and almond.

As for customization, you could add dōTERRA® Breathe® to help maintain feelings of clear airways, dōTERRA® Serenity® or Lavender to help you rest better, or Citrus Bliss® for an invigorating moisturizer. So many options, use what you would like.

As much as the holiday season is full of fun and love, it can also bring in a lot of stress. Stress on our bodies can make us physically ill, mentally foggy, and even, dare I say it, cranky!

Try this blend in your favorite massage oil base (or even just your favorite carrier oil!):

3 drops of Frankincense
2 drops of Ginger
4 drops of Orange
3 drops of Cedarwood

Frankincense is one of my FAVORITE oils for meditation and daily stress relief. Cedarwood is great for grounding and feeling more balanced. Orange is uplifting and makes me happy! And last but not least, Ginger plays a huge role in encouraging circulation. This combination is the perfect mix for a nice, warming, stress-destroying massage!

Or you can throw it in a bottle and it’s the perfect gift for a loved one!

Ingredients:
-15 drops of Frankincense essential oil
-15 drops of Grapefruit essential oil
-30 drops of Siberian Fir essential oil
-Glass Spray bottle

Instructions:
-Fill spray bottle with water to fill it about ¾ of the way full
-Add essential oils
-Top off with water if necessary
-Shake it up & enjoy!

*I know we may not all have the same size spray bottle, so the amount of each ingredient may be a little different for you. One thing to remember is keeping a 2-to-1 ratio for the Siberian Fir to the Frankincense and Grapefruit.

This room spray smells GREAT. At first there's a top note of Grapefruit, mingled with just a hint of Frankincense. The Douglas Fir lends an apple-like scent, and after being in the air for a little while, the Grapefruit fades to a faint sparkle to reveal a heartier base note of apple, pine, and a spicy, earthy resin from the Frankincense. You can't help but be in a good mood when you've got this magic in the air!

One of my favorite things to do with essential oils is cook with them. At the top right hand corner of this blog is an ebook on how to cook with essential oils and also you can click on the tab above for tips and tricks. We did our whole Thanksgiving dinner with essential oils and it was delicious. We are doing it again for Christmas and New Years. We also made some holiday treats with the oils, Lemon bars (I could eat the whole pan myself, Peppermint bark and ginger cookies. Yum
