Fly Relief for Horses - Insect Repellant

It is a beautiful day, we just got home from soccer games and started working around the house. My husband came in and said to me, get your oils on the horses the flies are horrible. So I made my mixture of Peppermint and Lavender. I filled a 4oz bottle with water and placed 7-10 drops of each. Shake well and went out and sprayed the horses. Some horses don't like to be sprayed so I spray on my hands and then rub them down. This blend also works great to keep other insects away so we spray it in the barn.

I also put  Lavender on my hands and let my horses smell and I spray on the fly mask before applying. Peppermint is also very cooling and horses love it, avoid around the eyes and dilute the peppermint if putting directly on the nose. Do not spray mixture in the eye, ears or nose. You may place on hand and rub on but not in. If you do not have all these oils, that is okay. Make a mixture with water and oils of choice. Use 10-15 drops with 4oz. water if using a single oil. Apply every 3-4 hours or as needed. Every horse is different and my like different oils. The TerraSheild Blend works great as well.  My horse loves Lavender and my other horse likes Peppermint.

Horses are sensitive so you can rub on hands first then let them smell your hands.
My horses are so happy. The flies were covering there fly masks. I felt so bad for them and was so happy I could provide them with some relief. I did not use Rosemary but it is suggested to use that one too, if you do make sure you dilute it.

Back to School Routine with Lavender and Wild Orange

Every year my children are so excited to go back to school. Which means emotions are wild, new schedules and the excitement of it all. I am so grateful for Essential Oils. It is hard as a parent to send your kids off to school. I remember the knot in my stomach. I wish I would have had something to calm my nerves. Lavender Essential Oil is very calming. If you place a drop of Lavender on the back of neck or on a cottonball so the child can have in pocket and with them to smell throughout the day as needed.

The Routine. The first few days we started with Lavender. We begin each day by Diffusing, then it is time for foot massages with Wild Orange and before we head out the door a drop of Lavender on the back of the neck. The kids carry a small bottle of Both Wild Orange and Lavender in there back packs just in case they have stomach issues or need calming or hurt themselves while at school. Now they are good for the day.
When I return home, I difusse Wild Orange as it is uplifting to the body. When I pick the kids up I have a spray bottle with water, peppermint and Lavender that I spray on there hands as they get into the car before we leave so nothing from school come home with us. When we get home, for a little pick me up, we diffuse peppermint and wild orange and at homework time it is Peppermint and Rosemary, which helps reduce nervous tension and fatigue. When it is time to calm down for the evening we diffuse Lavender with Lemon (kids favorite). Then another foot massage with Wild Orange which protects against seasonal and environmental threat.

Recipes
For Extra Defense during the school year, fill a roll on bottle with Fractionated Coconut oil or any vegetable oil of choice and put 6-8 drops of Wild Orange, Rosemary, peppermint Essential oil. Rub on children's feet at bedtime and in the morning before they head off to school. It is a very special bonding moment for parent and Child. My children love the foot massage and being touched and having that time with me.

For Hand Sanitizer fill a 4oz. Aluminum Spray bottle then put 10 drops of Lavender and 10 drops of Peppermint. Spray on hands for hand sanitizer. Also works great for head tension, sunburns and air freshener.
