How to Improve the Quality of Sleep Naturally

So how can you improve the quality of sleep naturally without turning to prescription drugs or over-the-counter medications?

Here are some tips to help you sleep better. First keep a Journal by your bed of when you go to sleep and wake up. Go to bed at the same time every night. Eat a Banana an hour before going to bed. If your mind is racing, then write it down, get it off your chest. Take a few deep breathes, let go of the day. It is over, get some rest for tomorrow. Get in to a routine. Do you need an alarm clock or do you wake up the same time every morning? How do you wake up, it it a loud obnoxious noise or soothing music?

Make sure your alarm clock is not a loud noise, that is no way to wake up. If you stick to a routine, you should not need the Alarm clock.

Here are some tips on how to use essential oils for better sleep:

•  Add a few drops of  lavender in a spray bottle, mix with water, shake well, and spritz on pillows and bed  linens.

• Gently massage the bottom of feet, back of neck or spine with a few drops of lavender  before going to bed.

• Diffuse lavender  in your room a few minutes before retiring for bed.

Add a few drops of lavender  to warm bath water and soak in the tub for a relaxing treat before bed.

•  Add 5-10 drops to 1 tbs. Fractionated coconut oil and massage on back, arms, legs and feet.

Other oils recommended, Wild Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon, Vetiver, Frankincense.

All Natural Wood Polish with Essential Oils

I am always looking for new and different ways to do things and stay all natural so I do not bring harmful chemicals into our home. I have learned so much in the past four years about ingredients. Today I want to share with you an all natural wood polish. I got the recipe from Essential Uses book . I will share with you what I used before, how I changed the recipe to my own personal preference and you can do the same or use it if you like it. I would also love to hear how you use this recipe, so please share. We all love different idea's.

Before
Here in Utah it is extremely dry and my poor kitchen table needs some attention. Here is is before the wood polish.

To bring back the shine to your favorite tables, countertops, floors and more.  Below is what you need and the recipe.

What you need

Olive Oil, Vinegar and Essential Oil

The Recipe
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup vinegar
10 drops Wild Orange essential oil
(can be citrus oil of choice)
16-oz glass spray bottle

First add 10 drops essential oil into glass spray bottle, add the olive oil and vinegar, Shake well before each use. Use a microfiber cloth and wipe wood surfaces clean.
Repeat every 2-3 months or as often as needed.

Before I found this recipe I would use just straight Olive Oil and Lemon essential oil, it was thick and had to be buffed out, but it worked great. I really like the vinegar added to the recipe, it soaks into the wood quicker and you do not have to buff it. I prefer the Lemon oil over the Wild Orange, but you can choose what ever citrus oil you are in the mood for. I did use the Wild Orange today when I did this. I also keep a container with socks that have holes in them for polishing furniture.  I used a sock instead of a microfiber cloth because I didn't have one. I just recently got some and I love them.

This morning I could not find my glass spray bottle and I didn't want to use one of my new microfiber cloths. I still have tons of socks with holes in them so I used one of those. I mixed the above ingredients in a little bowl and used my sock to wipe down the table and chairs.

Half way polished
Here is the table half way done so you can see the difference up close.

After
Here is the table after the polish applied. Also this table is old, I learned how to eat on it, and grateful my mother took such good care of it and it is still in the family and my children learned how to eat on it.

If only this table could talk, what a story it would tell. This is how I polish my wood tables and furniture. By blogging about this today I learned you can use this recipe on wood floors. I am going to try that next. Enjoy your day and thank you for letting me share.
