This is for you Kent and
Kellan and thank you for this recipe. Smoothies are so refreshing and healthy.
Our family loves them, not only for breakfast, they are great for snacks and
anytime of the day. When my kids want something sweet and with chocolate, I
make them a smoothie. It is so fun to be creative in the kitchen. To me it is
like a fun science project you get to enjoy when you are done.
Here are some tips to
always have a smoothie on hand. When the banana starts turning brown, I
peel them and break them in half and put in a freezer proof container and
freeze. We had a get together with some friends and I brought a fruit salad,
she told me to take it home at the end of the evening. I told her to keep it as
the fruit wouldn't last too long and she has more people in her family. She
said thank you, we got about what to do with fruit when it starts going bad
before you can eat it. She gave me the best advice and I had an ah ha moment of
why I haven't thought of that. If you have fruit that is going bad, FREEZE it!
Then use it for smoothies.
Make sure you have
coconut water on hand, and with the frozen fruit, you will be prepared to make
smoothies at the drop of the hat. I do stress try to use Organic fruit whenever possible. The same goes for spinach, kale and other greens. If they
start going bad before you use them, freeze them and use them in
smoothies.
Here is a basic formula
for any smoothie and then the recipe for the Banana Cacao Treat Smoothie
.
Basic formula.
2 cups liquid base
2 cups leafy greens
3 cups ripe or frozen fruit
Essential oils to
taste.
We make a lot of
smoothies in our home. I suggest going to see a nutritionist and search your
community, we have a nutritionist that is complimentary to us in our community
and she is wonderful and I learned what would be best with our family's health
issues. I strongly encourage everyone to get advice about what you are
eating.
