Homemade Granola with Essential Oils

Here are a few homemade Granola recipes. My father would make me granola, and it was so good. He was such a good and creative cook. I want to continue his legacy and be creative in the kitchen. When you are making these recipes think of someone you love and miss. Also know you are making yourself a healthy snack. These recipes are fun and easy to make. My family loves to create in the kitchen, we hope you enjoy these recipes. 

Homemade Granola


What you need
3 1/4 cups of rolled oats
4 tablespoons light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
1/2 teaspoon
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2-3 drops cinnamon or cassia essential oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1-1 1/2 cups combined dried fruit, diced, seeds, or chopped nuts (raw or toasted) to your liking

What to do
Heat oven to 300 degrees, use middle rack. combine oats, brown sugar, salt and nutmeg. Add essential oil to vegetable oil. In a different bowl, mix honey, oils and vanilla to combine. Pour honey mixture over the oats. Mix thoroughly. spread out on baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, then stir. Stir every 5 minutes for 15 more minutes or until very light golden brown. Remove, let cool to room temperature. Add dried fruit, nuts and or seeds to oats in a large bowl. If more chunky granola is desired, add sunflower seed kernels, wheat germ, oat bran etc. 

Cinnamon Almond Granola




 What you need
4 cups old-fashioned oats
2 cups shredded unsweetened coconut
1.5 cups sliced almonds
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1/4 cup flax seed meal
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup dried cherries
1 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup coconut oil
10 drops doTERRA Cinnamon essential oil

What to do 
  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In large glass bowl, combine oats, shredded coconut, sliced almonds, chia seeds, flax seed meal, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. In small saucepan over medium heat, melt honey, maple syrup, and coconut oil together.
  4. Pour liquid mixture over oat mixture. Add essential oil. Stir until well combined.
  5. Pour mixture onto large metal pan and place in oven.
  6. Stir granola every ten minutes to help granola bake evenly.
  7. After 20 minutes in oven, add dried cherries and cranberries.
  8. Bake for an additional 10-20 minutes until granola is golden brown.
  9. Once done, remove from oven and let cool.
  10. Store in airtight container
